The main problem that has kept mediawiki from catching on with the "masses" is that one must take the time to learn the "markup" necessary to format text. There is STILL no good wysiwyg editor for mediawiki, and I have tried a few. I now recommend the Firefox browser to all my clients, and with one of these add-ons, you can have a familar word processing like editor: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=wysiwyg
